Bonini to face Carney, add’l candidiates in race for Del. Governor

Senator Colin Bonini will face Congressman John Carney, Sean Goward, and Andrew Groff in the race for Delaware governor, according to unofficial numbers.
Senator Bonini, currently representing District 16, defeated opponent Lacey Lafferty for the republican ticket Tuesday with 69.88 percent of the vote. Every district had reported their results as of 11:30 p.m., according to the official polling website.
With a room of about 80 supporters at Frazier’s Restaurant, Bonini expressed how thankful he was upon hearing the news.
He says the focus now turns to explaining what he’d like to see in Delaware as the days toward November wind down; however, another big priority is reuniting the Republican Party.
According to Bonini, Tuesday’s “unity party” at Frazier’s was a good start.
As for the voters, he says the party wants to listen to their concerns.
“They [voters] want to hear about things they care about,” he says. “People are suffering and we hear that and we care and were going to offer solutions, and I think in that process of offering solutions, we’re going to bring people together.”
Congressman Carney ran unopposed for the Democratic ticket in this election. Goward and Groff also ran unopposed as the libertarian and Green Party candidates, respectively.
