Bennett Boys Soccer Post Shutout At Washington

The James M. Bennett boys soccer team earned their first win of the season Monday when they defeated Washington 4-0. The win improves the Clippers to 1-0-1, while the loss drops the Jaguars to 0-2.
The teams would be in a defense battle early on with neither squad being able to find the back of the net. Finally around the 20 minute mark, Connor Ains would take a pass at the top of the box, settle it and fire it to the far past for a score. Then just a few minutes later, the Clippers would stretch their lead to 2-0 after Cermy Oneus would send a pass into the box that Luis Flores would head home for the score. Bennett would take a 2-0 lead into the break, and add another in the second half after Connor Banks would find a cross inside the box and finish it off for the easy goal. Alistar Swrakosz would add another as the lead would build to 4-0 at the midway point of the second half. The Jags continued to battle despite the deficit and drew a PK with under 10 minutes to play on a break away. Riley Horner would send a perfect kick to the far corner, but Gabe Dunn would make a great diving save to preserve the shutout.
