American Cancer Society: Relay for life movement

47 ABC joined hundreds today at Winterplace park for American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life movement. This event is said to be one of the worlds largest fundraising events to end cancer.
Their slogan is “Taking Action Against a Disease that has Taken so Much” Over 40 teams brings this years Relay For Life movement nearly 600 participants, all taking a stand to end Cancer. Nearly every Eastern Shore university was present as well as hundreds of community members who raised thousands of dollars for the cause.
“Today we came out with our teammates,” said UMES baseball player, Wes Martin. “It’s about giving back to the community and hanging out, having a good time.”
Event organizers tell us that with the support from volunteers, they were able to raise 123,000 dollars for the American Cancer Society. Donations like this help ACA save more than 500 lives a day.
