This year marks its 80th year of the Wicomico County Fair and they’ve added some new events such as, a fireworks show, a mounted cowboy style horseback riding shooting competition and a Sunday morning church service. Zach Evans, chairperson of the fair, says besides the new events, there is something for everyone to enjoy. But one thing that Evans says you definitely have to check out?
Evans tells 47 ABC, “If you’ve got young children or you didn’t grow up on a farm you’ve got to check out the livestock barn. I think if you don’t have the opportunity to get up close to those animals and see them and experience it then that’s probably the best part you need to make sure you check out.”
Another staple at the fair? All the delicious food. And Josh Mason, owner of Vittles food truck, knows a thing or two about delicious food. New to the fair this year, Mason says he’s excited for the exposure.
Mason tells 47 ABC, “Obviously it’s a great community event were new to the game so we felt like this would be a great opportunity for us to reach a lot of people a lot of new people so that’s the game plan.”
Selling everything from grilled cheese, fish tacos and sandwiches, he says it’s all fresh. Mason tells 47 ABC, “We do make everything to order so were not dropping frozen food in the fryer you know everything is fresh so you know we just want to get that word out and let everybody know that were going to try to elevate the game a little bit.”
But if grilled cheese isn’t your thing, there are other foods to enjoy at the fair such as pulled pork, crab cakes, and of course the lion clubs famous fried chicken. Another cool aspect of the fair? Evans says 99 percent of the stuff at the fair is free of charge including parking and admission. The fair rides operate by tickets which cost a dollar apiece.
the fair will be run Saturday from 10 AM to 10 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM. For more information you can visit the fair’s website which is, http://wicomicofair.com/
