Virginia State Police ask for public’s help in highway shooting

The Virginia State Police is asking for the public’s help in identifying a possible suspect or suspect vehicle that was involved in a highway shooting.

On Monday, Virginia State Police say it was called to Interstate 64 westbound at the Virginia Beach Boulevard overpass in the city of Norfolk.

The driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado reportedly said that he had just entered I-64 westbound from I-264 when he had heard a popping sound. Officials say it was later determined that the backseat passengers, a man and a woman, were hit by fragments of a bullet.

Both victims reportedly sustained non-life threatening injuries and were treated and released. The interstate was apparently shutdown briefly to search for evidence of the crime.

Agents say they are seeking the public’s assistance for witnesses that were in the vicinity of I-64 and I-264 westbound at around 3:20 PM who may have seen this incident.

According to the report, the victim was driving a beige colored 2013 Chevrolet Silverado full cab pickup truck and was towing a trailer with a pontoon style boat.

Anyone with information on this crime or identification of a suspect or suspect vehicle, is asked to contact the Virginia State Police at 757-424-6800 or #77 on a cellular phone.
