UPDATE: Police identify body washed ashore OCMD

Police have identified the body reportedly washed ashore near 127th Street on Tuesday.

According to the Ocean City Police Department, the body has been identified as 25-year-old Michael West of Temple Hills, Maryland.

West’s body was reportedly spotted in the water by a beachgoer Tuesday afternoon. A lifeguard was alerted, who later pulled West’s body out of the water.

We’re told the body showed signs of being in the water for an extended period of time.

Autopsy results are still pending from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the State of Maryland in Baltimore; however, detectives say West’s death was not suspicious in nature.

Police say West had been reported as a missing person to the Prince George’s County Police Department. He was last reportedly seen on Sunday, August 7 around 5 a.m. near 127th Street.
