UPDATE: Names released in crash north of Georgetown

The Delaware State Police say they are currently investigating a car crash that happened north of Georgetown at Donovans Salvage parking lot.

The investigation apparently revealed that the incident happened around 2:50 PM on Thursday, as Octavio Barrios-Fuentes, 35 of Georgetown, was driving a 2001 Dodge Durango southbound on Donovans Road. Police stated that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officials say Barrios-Fuentes failed to negotiate a sharp left curve, and the Durango drove off the right side of the road and hit a 1999 Buick LeSabre which was parked in the parking lot of Donovans Salvage.

According to the report, the initial impact between the two vehicles caused the LeSabre to rotate sharply clockwise and hit Harvey Thornes, 36, of Millsboro, as he was walking by the car. This then apparently threw him into a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox, which was also parked in the lot.

Officials say the LeSabre continued to rotate and hit a parked and detached food trailer that was Cynthia Brown, 50, of Lincoln, was in, causing grease to spill out of the vats onto her.

The Dodge Durango reportedly came to a stop on the grassy shoulder just south of the initial collision. Officials say Barrios-Fuentes then ran from the Durango down some nearby railroad track into a home in Georgetown where he was taken into custody by troopers and Georgetown Police Department about twenty minutes later.

Harvey Thornes was apparently flown to Christiana Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition with undetermined injuries, and Cynthia Brown was airlifted by State Police Aviation to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where she was admitted in stable condition with severe burns.

According to the report, Octavio Barrios-Fuentes was transported to Troop4 where he was charged with two counts of vehicular assault first, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid license, and various other traffic related offenses. He was reportedly arraigned at JP2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $8,000 cash bond.

Donovans Road in the area of the Salvage yard was apparently closed for approximately one hour while the crash was investigated and clear.
