Third suspect to face trial for murder of Fruitland teen

The third suspect arrested in connection to the murder of a Fruitland teenager is expected to face trial Tuesday.

Ky’Shir Connally, 19, was arrested in August 2015 in connection to the shooting death of Rakim Russell, 17.

According to police, Russell was shot in the parking lot of the America’s Best Value Inn on North Salisbury Boulevard as he left a party shortly after midnight on August 2, 2015.

Connally is facing 18 charges, including first degree murder and reckless endangerment.

The shooter, identified as 19-year-old Jarrett Stokes, was sentenced to life in prison in May for first degree murder, plus an additional 20 years for handgun use in a felony, and three years on reckless endangerment.

Larry Ennis, 20, was found guilty in February on similar charges. Ennis was sentenced to life plus ten years in April.

Connally’s trial is expected to begin at 9 a.m. in Wicomico County Circuit Court. According to online court documents, the trial is scheduled to last through Thursday.
