Terry Campus offers free placement screenings for YA Education & Employment Opportunity Program

The Delaware Tech Terry Campus has announced they are offering free placement screenings for an education and employment opportunity program being offered at no cost to individuals 16-24 years old who are not currently enrolled in school and are either underemployed or unemployed.

Organizers say the Out of School Youth program is offered at no cost through a partnership with the state’s Department of Labor Workforce Development Board. Students will have the opportunity to develop personal and professional skills and enhance marketability and competitiveness in the workplace.

The assessment screenings, which do not require pre-registration, will be offered on campus in Building 200 at 9 AM and 5 PM on  August 24 and 25.

Only one assessment needs to be completed and interested individuals are invited to show up at the screening of their choice. The assessment will lastabout 3.5 hours.

Participants will obtain a GED® and earn industry-recognized certificates, participate in entrepreneurial education and leadership development opportunities, take financial literacy workshops and complete up to 262 hours of occupational training through paid work experience and internships.

After completing the program, organizers say individuals will be workforce ready and prepared to continue their post-secondary education.

The Out of School Youth program is funded by the Workforce Development Board. For additional information on the program or placement screening assessments, please contact program manager Melody Phillips at mphill46@dtcc.edu or 302-857-1531.
