previews continue tonight yeah we have previewed about half our teams at this point.. and its been great we are really getting a sneak peak at this years teams our high school football preview rolls on tonight, with a trip over to wildcat country delmar is hoping for a big bounce back season in 2016… tonight we take a closer look at the ‘cats nat pop 2015 was a season filled with heartbreak for the delmar football team 5 of the wildcats 9 losses were by 1 score or less…. none worse, than the one at lake “we were in games that were so close, we lost heart breakers. they were hard to swallow. i don’t think we stopped playing any kind of way. i think these guys, know the reputation of the school, and of the program. but they are interested in themselves right now. they are interested in seeing what this program can do, what this team, the 16 team can do.” and that’s mentality of this team moving forward. 16, is a brand new year “we still got to compete and do better. that’s the only thing that we can do, is do better. be the best. we got to all be leaders, and help all the younger kids. and help ourselves too.” if the wildcats are going to have the turnaround season they hope for.. it’ll be done with one of the youngest teams in the state delmar returns just 8 seniors from a year ago “we just want to teach them as much as we can. they’re a very young team, but they’ll be very good.um, we are just trying to have a good year with them, and teach them as much as we can for the future.” “a lot of learning for the younger guys. a lot of them have played, middle school, jv guys, but uh, they got to move up to the next level. and we’ll find out who the players are the next couple weeks.” the good news is, the seniors they do have are at important spots, including quarterback where jimmy adkins enters his 2nd season under center, after earning 2nd team all-conference honors a year ago. nat pop “he’s very athletic. he has quickness, he can throw the ball. he has good feet. so this year, its not only the athleticism, but the leadership and the knowledge he learned from last year.” he’ll be joined in the back field by a couple other upper class man, including junior brooks parker, who figures to be the lead back this year “i know it will be difficult, but i believe i can step in those shoes and fill it. and it’s just not me, its a lot of other great running backs that can do the same thing that i’m doing.” delamr opens up their season on september 9th when they travel to smithsburg taking it to some baseball the shorebirds were back to work tonight as they looked to snap their 6 game losing skid as they took on the suns. hagerstown would strike first in the 4th after this rbi single to right center they would later add a sac fly to stretch the lead to 2-0 before this cedric mullins gets all of that one.. and its out of her a 2 run shot to center ties this thing up but the suns just kept on coming they get a home run of their own here in the bottom of that frame.. and that would prove to be the differnece as they take it, 3-2 and its was game 3 of the battle of the beltway tonight, as the nationals took on the orioles this turned into a wild one baltimore had a 7 run lead going into the bottom of the 7th before washington got a grand slam from daniel murphy. then after a rbi double… they would get the tying run at the plate with 1 down before a double play ended it os take it, 10-8 the final that’s it for sports. good news is just ahead- keep it right here — you’re watching 47 abc! catch more of the action on our sports page
