Senior League: District 3’s Run Comes To End

The District 3 Senior League softball team saw their World Series run come to an end in the quarterfinals Friday afternoon when they fell in a back and forth battle with Canada 7-5. Canada would take the lead in the 6th, and close it out from there for the win.
Canada would strike first with a RBI single to right in the 1st to take a quick 1-0 lead. But it didn’t take very long for District 3 to have an answer. After Shannon Lord lead off with a single, Jordyn Virden send a blooper to shallow right to get on as well. That set the table for Hannah Jones who crushed a 3 run shot to left to give her team the lead. Canada would begin to fight their way back though. They would get a sac fly, followed by a RBI triple in the 4th to tie the game up. District 3 would then be the ones to respond. They would work the bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th before Jones would drop one just a couple feet in front of the plate. Logan Walls would show off her speed as she was able to score from 3rd before the tag to give her team the lead. Then Reagan Jackson would lift the next pitch to dead center for a RBI sac fly as Virden was able to come on in. But Canada kept on coming. They would take advantage of a couple miscues by District 3 in the 6th to get runners on 1st and 2nd before they sent a shot to deep left center for a RBI double. District 3 would try and catch the runner at 3rd, but the ball would get away to allow another run to come in. They would take a 6-5 lead into the 7th, before adding an insurance run off a bloop single to center. District 3 was never able to answer in the bottom of the frame, as they ended up dropping a tough contest to see their tournament run come to an end.
