Rehoboth Beach police ask public for help to identify two carjackers

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects that allegedly stole an elderly man’s car.

Police say around 10 a.m. Saturday morning, an 80-year-old man gave a man and a woman a ride from Wawa on Veterans Way to the Royal Farms on Rehoboth Avenue, where they claimed they were meeting a friend.

According to police, when they arrived at the Royal Farms, the male suspect exited the vehicle as the female suspect asked if she could drive.

The victim told police when he attempted to take the keys from the ignition to exit the car, the female grabbed the keys from him, scratching his hand.

The male suspect then reportedly jumped into the driver’s seat of the victim’s car. Police state the suspects were last seen driving east bound on Columbia Avenue.

The vehicle that was stolen was a dark gray or charcoal 2002 Chevrolet Suburban with Maryland registration 3CK6851.  The Suburban had 3 fishing poles on the roof, a rear lift gate, chrome bumpers, and small dents on the rear driver side door and front bumper.

Anyone seeing the vehicle is asked to immediately call 911.  We ask that they please do not attempt to contact the occupants, but call the police and report the location.
