Record number of freshmen move into Salisbury University

Backpacks, comforters, and dorm accessories could be seen around almost every corner at Salisbury University on Thursday.

More than 1,300 students moved onto campus between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday. It’s the largest and most diverse freshman class in the school’s history, university officials tell 47ABC.

Andrew Britt, an incoming freshman from Baltimore, says he chose to be a Seagull because of the school’s competitive in-state tuition.

Britt, who says he plans to follow a physical therapy track, tells 47ABC he’s excited for the independence college is sure bring.

“I would like to be able to be self-sustaining and be able to go out in the world and not get lost in the sauce,” he says.

Classes officially begin Monday when about 8,700 students will return to campus.
