Police say they need help for the murder of Ginger the dog

Ginger was a Fox Red Labrador  and also best friend to owner, Joe Austin. About three weeks ago, Ginger was found on a Mardela Springs roadside shot to death. Austin has taken his grief to social media hoping to find more information.

Austin says, “Everyone that has contacted me so far has been extremely sympathetic for obvious reasons most of us really love our animals. It’s a really tough thing to go through.”

He tells 47 ABC that the death of a dog is already hard on a family, but when your pet is murdered, it is extremely brutal. Austin claims it’s not the only case of such brutality in a six mile radius.

Austin states, “It could be a bigger link to other issues. I’ve had 7 instances in a week of dog theft or dead body of dogs being turned up. Some of those dead dogs were abused tortured, it’s pretty sad.”

Austin, despite being heartbroken, is hoping to help others by starting a local organization any way that can help in reporting problems with dogs and abuse.

Because it is an ongoing investigation, Maryland State Police would only say they have some good leads from tip lines and they are actively pursuing the case. MSP state that with the help of the community, they will be able to have a bit more direction.

Police say if you have any other information regarding this incident, call Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776.
