Police respond to fight at Rusty Rudder Restaurant

Officials from the Dewey Beach Police Department say they responded to a restaurant early Sunday morning in reference to a disturbance.
Around 1 AM, police reportedly arrived at the Rusty Rudder Restaurant in response to a disorderly crowd that was fighting with the security staff. According to the report, when officers arrived, the crowd grew to about 30 people.
Officials say they tried to break up the crowd with the security staff, noting that the altercation happened inside the restaurant and several patrons were thrown out.
Officials say when security escorted these individuals to Dickinson Street, several other patrons followed and began acting disorderly, causing another disturbance.
As more Dewey Beach Police reportedly arrived, they ordered the crowd to break up, but they refused. Officials say that several officers were exposed to pepper spray and one officer was injured from an unknown object that hit him in the head.
According to the report, the officer was not transported to the hospital, however, he was treated and released at the scene. Officers from the Rehoboth Beach Police Department apparently responded to help and several subjects were detained, but released due to uncooperative victims.
