Ocean City’s Dine United Competition raises $33,000 in two months for United Way

Ocean City restaurants have joined a friendly competition to raise money for a local organization.

The purpose of the Dine United OC competition is to have restaurants compete in order to raise money and benefit the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore. They each come up with their own ideas to make certain specials. From those specials, they take a portion to donate to United Way.

The competition covered most of the Ocean city summer tourism season, which began June 15. In the past two months, these restaurants have raised over $33,000.

An outreach communications manager from United Way says that this will help fund the 74 programs that fight for the education, financial stability, and health for everyone in the community.

An award ceremony will be held after the competition ends. They hope all of their efforts can reach $50,000 by Labor Day.
