Man charged with 7th DUI

Officials in Ocean View say a man has been charged with his 7th DUI.

On Saturday, on Beaver Dam Road in Ocean View, officers reportedly stopped a car after a computer check indicated that the owner of the car had an active warrant out of Sussex County Family Court.

Darrell Bell, of Millsboro, apparently had failed to pay his child support, and while talking with officers, they noticed alcohol on his breath.

Officials say they did field sobriety tests that indicated Bell was driving under the influence, and further investigation showed that his driver’s license was revoked.

According to the report, officers also learned that between 1998 and 2011, Bell has been convicted of DUI six times.

Police then reportedly charged Bell with felony DUI, noncompliance with conditions of recognizance bond, driving after judgment prohibited, and driving while revoked.

Bell was apparently committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute on $10,000 cash bond.
