Local teen in critical condition not battling alone

Over a week after a fatal crash involving four local teens – ribbons, flowers, and a balloon make up a roadside memorial dedicated to Natalie Insley.  17 year old Tyler Ennis was also in the car that lost control around a curve on Sharptown Rd. 47ABC is told Tyler remains in critical condition in a Baltimore hospital as of Thursday evening.

Nichole Collingsworth has known Tyler the past several years through the Delmar Elite basketball team with whom she volunteers with.  Collingsworth and the team wanted to help in some way, but they weren’t sure how.  Then the idea sparked “How about we set up some car washes and maybe some bake sales for him to help his family and help him” Collingsworth tells 47ABC.

So with a little help, that’s exactly what Collingsworth and the Delmar Elite basketball team did, and it’s not just limited to car washes, but car rides as well.  That is because the Salisbury Taxi Co. is also getting in on the action. “We’re donating for his grandmother to go to Baltimore we’re donating half priced rides…because it’s costly going back and forth to Baltimore” a Salisbury Taxi employee explains to 47ABC.

Not only are they discounting the rides for Tyler’s family, but they are also collecting donations to cover the other half of the ride for Tyler’s grandmother, who does not have access to transportation to get to Baltimore to see Tyler.  Karen Dozier, who is the employee with the local taxi company says “we’re hoping to continue to raise, so we’re here.” adding that “the companies are pouring in with donations so we hope they keep coming.”

Aside from Insley and Ennis, two other teens, brothers Ethan and Nathan Peterman were also in the car, and they are reportedly doing well.  While many are still reeling from Natalie’s death, those who know Tyler are reaching out to let him know he will not fight this battle alone.  Collingsworth, speaking through 47ABC says “We love you Tyler and we’re rooting for you buddy and we love everybody else too that was involved with this whole thing.” Collingsworth adds that they would like to help all families involved in any way that they can.
