Kent Co. house fire under investigation

The Office of the State Fire Marshal says that the Betterton Volunteer Fire Department responded to a home fire in Kent County early Thursday morning.

Around 1:00 AM, officials say that 50 firefighters responded to Meeks Point Lane in Worton after a boater noticed the flames and called it in.

According to the report, it took about 50 firefighters around 2 hours to control the blaze in the one story, wood frame home.

The cause of the fire and the area of origin are reportedly under investigation, and the damage is totaled at around $300,000. No injures have been reported in this incident.
