Harrington man jailed after domestic dispute

On Friday, the Harrington Police Department says they arrested a man in response to a domestic dispute.
Michael Moffett, 60, of Harrington, was reportedly after police respond to a report of a domestic dispute in progress.
While on patrol, police say they went to Moffett’s home after they got a call about an assault that happened as a result of a domestic dispute. According to the report, when police arrived, they contacted the 54-year-old male victim and found him to be suffering from facial injuries.
The victim was reportedly taken to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threatening facial injuries.
Police say they took Moffett into custody without incident, and they determined that Moffett and the victim became involved in a verbal altercation which escalated into a physical altercation.
During the fight, Moffett apparently assaulted the victim by punching him in the face and breaking his glasses. There also apparently was a woman present during the incident, and Moffett began yelling and cursing at her too.
Officials say that Moffett was taken to the Harrington Police Department for processing and charged with assault third degree, criminal mischief under $1,000, and disorderly conduct.
According to the report, he was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3, and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $1,000 secured bond.
