H.S. Football Preview: Bennett Clippers

The James M. Bennett Clippers football team is looking to repeat the magic of the 2015 season this year. Bennett is coming off a 7-3 year that saw them win the City Crown, as well as make the post season. Bennett will have it’s own set of challenges though for the upcoming year.

The Clippers enter their 2nd season with quarterback Joey Blake under center. The junior has started to grow into his own, improving on his arm strength and footwork. He will be working behind another big offensive line, that a year ago often won the battle of the trenches and helped generate their run game between the tackles. But Bennett will be showcasing a modified offense this year, playing to some of the speed they have on at the skill positions. Bennett features a bevy of quick players, highlighted by Matt Chrysostome. Last year he helped swing field position in both the passing and return game. The Clippers will also be tough defensively, returning 7 of their 11 starters on that side of the ball from a year ago.

The Clippers open the season on September 2nd when they travel to play Washington.
