Former Delaware Secretary of State dies

Bill Quillen, a former Delaware Secretary of State, has died. He was 81.

The Office of Congressman John Carney (D-Del), who is Quillen’s father-in-law, issued the following statement Friday:

“It’s with great sadness that we announce that Congressman Carney’s father-in-law, Bill Quillen, a former Delaware Secretary of State and Supreme Court Justice, has passed away.  He was 81. John and Tracey appreciate the support and well-wishes they have received during this difficult time.”

Quillen was honored with Governor Jack Markell’s Governor’s Heritage Award in 2013 for his commitment to Delaware’s heritage.

Quillen served as Delaware’s Secretary of State, am Justice in the Delaware Supreme Court, a judge in Delaware’s Superior Court, and a chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery.
