Fiery home explosion reported in rural western Maryland

(AP) – Emergency workers are responding to a reported home explosion in rural western Maryland.
Jennifer Swisher, administrative manager for Washington County Fire and Emergency Services says the home on Hollow Road near Hancock was fully engulfed in flames Thursday morning.
She says units began arriving within a half-hour of the initial call at about 8:50 a.m.
Swisher says the building is a single family home. She says she doesn’t know if anyone was inside the dwelling when the explosion occurred.
The address is about 80 miles northwest of Baltimore in an area of farms and steep, forested hills in the state’s narrow western panhandle.
