Felton man sentenced for 2014 rape
A Felton man has been sentenced, after being connected to the rape of a teenager.
According to the Delaware Department of Justice, 36-year-old Derek Basnight, will spend 20 years in prison, in connection with the rape of a teen.
Before his sentencing, Basnight plead guilty to second degree rape, and two counts of rape in the fourth degree. In 2014, Basnight raped a girl temporarily living in his home.
The court sentenced Basnight to 55 years in prison, which will be suspended after 20 years, followed by six months at Level IV work release. Basnight will also have to complete one year of Level III probation, and he must register as a Tier 3 sex offender.
