Drivers concerned about Donovans curvy road

Aside from this specific accident that happened on Thursday, Donovans road has been the center of attention for several other cases. It is known for its sharp curve and officials say it has seen its fair share of accidents.

Donovan’s Salvage, a scrap yard, is located right off the curve. An employee, Derek Sickler tells 47 ABC that the majority of the crashes on the road end up on their property’s grass or parking lot.

Thursday’s collision added another notch to their belt. Sickler said that this is a reoccurring issue that and  people need “to slow down”.

Delaware State Police states there has been 12 crashes on that bend since 2012; in comparison to one crash on a similar road 5 minutes north of the same time frame.

But Sickler says there may be more to that number because he says that a few incidents have not been reported.

A customer, Myron Terebecki, said he felt uncomfortable driving on it, “I think it’s a bit little too winding, we should have more police out here patrolling too because people drive too fast. They aren’t paying attention, they pull out in front of you.”

47 ABC spoke to Senator Brian Pettyjohn, who said in a statement that there have been some complaints from residents but nothing substantial enough to create change on the road. Pettyjohn said that any future changes would be dealt with the Department of Transportation.
