Department of Defense gives a Salisbury construction firm the highest honor award

A local Salisbury business received the highest honor the Department of Defense can give out Friday at the Pentagon.
Delmarva Veteran Builders, or DVB , were honored with the Defense Employer Support Freedom Award presented by Secretary of Defense Ash Carter in Washington D.C.
DVB is the region’s only commercial construction company that aims to create jobs for military veterans.
The company was one of 15 employers selected from over 2,424 nominated.
DVB president Chris Eccleston served six years in the U.S. Navy and upon returning home he merged the skills he learned in the service with his lifelong interest in construction. He says he hires National Guard and Reserve members because they are train to win and operate as a team.
He said that the business just started three years ago and he never thought he’d see this day in receiving this honor.
