Delaware State Police investigating major collision along Route 896

Delaware State Police are investigating a car crash that occurred earlier this morning in Newark.

Police have determined the crash occurred Friday morning around 2:00 AM on northbound Delaware Route 896 at US 40 (Pulaski Highway). According to reports, the collision involved a tractor-trailer and a Ford F-150 pick-up truck, leaving four people injured.

Those involved have been transported to local hospitals for treatment, and police are continuing to investigate the crash.

The northbound lanes of DE Route 896 at US 40 have since been re-opened to traffic.

The investigation into the crash is in its early stages. More information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
