Del. Locksmith gives free services during heat wave

With stifling temperatures on Delmarva, it could be dangerous to leave a child or pet in the car. One local company is doing their part from keeping injuries or deaths from happening.
Major Locksmith is offering free services for people who might find themselves in this situation. They if you do accidentally lock a pet or child in the car to immediately give them a call.
According to kidsandcars.org, there have already been twenty-seven heat-related child deaths nationally this year. They say even the best of parents or caregivers can unknowingly leave a sleeping baby in a car.
Major Locksmith owner Martin Schmidt Jr. says, “[I’ve] been doing this for almost 14 years now, and be we’ve had about 30 situations dealing with a pet or child locked in a vehicle that we’ve gone out and didn’t charge for, people were surprised and to us it’s a life it’s not about a price when it comes down to that point.”
The number to call if you are in need is (302) 684-8824. The company also suggests running water over the car to create a heat barrier, which will also lower the temperature inside. That’s in the event a parent or caregiver cannot break a window and is waiting for help.
