Decatur’s Football HC Knox Takes Leave of Absence for 2016

Stephen Decatur announced Monday morning that long time football head coach Bob Knox will be taking a leave of absence for the 2016 season, due to family health concerns. Coach Knox was named the Seahawks head coach in 1983 and has held the position for the 32 years since. Coach Knox’s 228 career wins ranks 2nd for active coaches, and 12th All-Time in Maryland state history. The Knox family has asked for their privacy during this difficult time.
Defensive Coordinator Stan Griffin will be stepping in as the interim head coach. In a statement given to 47ABC, Stephen Decatur principal Thomas D. Zimmer said, “We are fully confident that Coach Griffin will continue the Seahawk’s tradition of excellence until Coach Knox resumes his role next season.”
Decatur opens up their season on September 2nd when they travel to play Bo-Manor.
