Arrest made in Nate Ayres murder

According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, a 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the death of Nathanial Ayres that. 

According to the report, Ayres died as a result of gunshot wounds following an incident that happened on August 12 near the intersection of Nocks Landing Road and Greta Road near Atlantic.   

Officials say the 17-year-old was arrested on Wednesday at his home in Atlantic and has been charged with first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a murder, robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a robbery.

He is reportedly currently being held in the Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center.
