Armed robbery and shooting incident in Sharptown

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says they got information on July 27 about a robbery and shooting that happened at the Cherry Beach Park.

The park is located on Cherry Beach Road in Sharptown, and the the Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation detectives reportedly were contacted and began to investigate this case. 

According to the report, during the weekend of July 22-24,  Jeffrey Whitten, Bryan Blake, and Logan Littleton conspired to commit a robbery of subjects selling a large amount of marijuana.

Officials say Whitten initiated the contact with a subject in reference to buying the marijuana, the parties agreed on a price, and planned to meet at Cherry Beach Park on July 24 around 9 PM.

Whitten, Blake and Littleton apparently drove to Cherry Beach Park to met with a marijuana dealer. During the interaction Littleton and Blake reportedly held a shotgun and an AK-47 style rifle in a threatening manner while demanding the marijuana from the dealer.

Officials say the dealer complied and gave a large bag of marijuana to Whitten, Blake and Littleton. According to the report, the three young men ran from the parking lot as as both parties exchanged gunfire at one another. Officials say no one was injured during the gunfire.

Detectives from WBI say they extensively worked this case and were able to interview most of the parties involved. On Friday, WBI detectives reportedly were able to locate and arrest Whitten, who was then transferred to the Wicomico County Detention Center. Officials say on Saturday, arrest warrants were issued for Littleton and Blake in relation to this case. 

According to the report, on Monday the Maryland State Police Apprehension Team was able to locate and arrest Littleton and Blake, in Delaware. Both Littleton and Blake were transferred to the Wicomico County Detention Center.

Furthermore, the detectives say they were able to recover two of the firearms used in the robbery, a shotgun and an AK-47 style rifle. 

According to the report, the charges are listed as:

  • Robbery
  • Armed robbery
  • Theft: $1000-$10,000
  • Assault second degree
  •  Firearm use/felony violent crime
  • Conspracy – armed robbery
  • Conspiracy – robbery
