AAA says few Marylanders are prepared for severe storms

A significant amount of people in Maryland would not be prepared if bad weather were to hit the state. That’s according to AAA. With a little over three months to go in the Atlantic hurricane season, AAA suggests that you become prepared, just in case.

Secure your home, stock emergency supplies, protect your house and never attempt to drive though high flooded waters. Regina Averella of AAA says one of the most important things you should do, is come up with a family plan. Averella says talking with your family about certain scenarios that could happen is key.

Averella tells 47 ABC, “We believe that unfortunately many people don’t take these threats very seriously and feel that perhaps it may not apply to them. But the reality is these storms can creep up on us or we could have some sort of catastrophic event at any time.”

If you do make a family emergency plan, using the Red Cross hurricane safety checklist could help. You can find it here, https://www.redcross.org/images/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m4340160_Hurricane.pdf
