UPDATE: Sussex County Correctional Center missing offender has been apprehended

Officials say Crum was apprehended on Wednesday, at 5:30 AM by the SCCC Escape Recovery Team. He was reportedly at the Greenwood home of his girlfriend, Bonnie Haymond. Crum was apparently transported back to SCCC, where he was mirandized and arrested for escape after conviction and resisting arrest. According to the report, Crum has been committed to SCI in lieu of bond, and Bonnie Haymond was arrested for an active warrant out of JP Court 4.

Authorities in Georgetown say they are searching for an inmate, who did not return from an authorized pass.

The Sussex County Correctional Center, in Georgetown, says that 42-year-old Edward Crum has failed to return from an authorized home pass.

Crum is described by law enforcement as a male, standing 5’05”, weighing 145 pounds, with blonde or strawberry hair, and green eyes. He reportedly uses the alias Eddie Crum, and his last known address is in Seaford, Delaware.

Officials say that Crum’s location is unknown, and unauthorized at this time, so a warrant for escape and conviction has been issued. According to the report, Crum’s current offense is violation of probation for a charge second degree assault.

It is important to keep in mind that Community Corrections Centers are Level 4 facilities, where the Department of Correction manages offenders who are transitioning back into the community. So, these centers are not secured like Level 5 prisons, meaning offenders are permitted to the leave the facility to go to work, seek jobs or attend approved treatment sessions.
