UPDATE: Pipe repair to extend road closure

Nanticoke Road will remain closed between Oliver Drive and Rockawalkin Road for at least month, officials tell 47ABC.

Charlie Gilschar, public information officer for the Maryland State Highway Administration (“SHA”), says damage appears to be more extensive than previously thought.

According to Gilschar, about half of the thirty inch pipe has been damaged after nine inches of rain soaked the area Tuesday. Rather than fixing just half of the pipe, he says they are going to try and fix the entire thing.

Gilschar says it’s going to require a drainage design, which is what SHA engineers are developing right now. The next step is to bring a contractor on board.

SHA says motorists should use Levin Dashiell Road as a detour route.
