UPDATE: Corbett trial jury begins deliberation

The trial of Justin Corbett, the former Dover airman accused of abusing and killing 21-month-old Evan Dudley back in November 2012, continued Wednesday and ended with the jury entering deliberation.

After closing arguments Wednesday morning, a verdict was expected in the afternoon. However, that’s been pushed to tomorrow morning.

In closing, a state prosecutor implied to the jury that separation anxiety from Evan may have set Corbett off, prompting him to abuse and kill him. Graphic photos were once again shown.

The defense in closing disputed the doctors called by the state, questioning their research and findings.

The state rebutted and tried to clarify, also claiming that Corbett’s explanation that the child fell down the stairs changed multiple times.

We’ll have the details from Kent County as soon as they emerge.
