Trappe man wanted for assault and drug charges in Easton, arrested

Police in Easton say they found a man, Sunday, wanted in connection with an assault that happened on July 11.
Officials with the Easton Police Department reportedly saw Sheldon Nieves, 23, of Harrison Circle in Trappe, as he was walking in the area of South Street, and recognized that he was wanted for assault second degree.
According to the charging document, Nieves hit a female victim hard in the face, after he got into an argument with this woman over Nieves sitting on her car.
The woman reportedly filed for charges, and Easton police received the arrest warrant while also learning that there was another warrant for Nieves on possession of controlled dangerous substance, marijuana, possession of controlled dangerous substance-not marijuana, cocaine, and two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
Officials say that Nieves was given the drug charges after he was found in possession of those items at his home in Trappe, when a search warrant was served at his residence. According to the report, the Talbot County Narcotics Task Force applied for those charges after that warrant was served at Nieves home on June 30.
Officials say that Nieves was served, and processed on both arrest warrants at the Easton Police Department and was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance hearing.
Nieves was reportedly taken to the Talbot County Detention Center on a bond of $8,000, and was at that time pending trial in both matters.
