Tips when using a propane grill

Many will be firing up their grills this 4th of July weekend and whether you’re cooking hotdogs, steaks or burgers, there are some safety tips to keep in mind. First tip? Make sure your grill is 100 percent clean so that nothing can catch fire.

For those of you dealing with propane grills, make sure that your connections are secure. It’s important that you don’t have any line cracks or breaks in your hose. Kelly Jarvis, store leader at ACE Rommel’s Hardware says the simplest way you can do that is by taking the hose off and submerging it in water too see if any bubbles go through it.

Jarvis tells 47 ABC, “I think the biggest thing especially because a lot of people when you have family you have a lot of small kids is create a safety area around because little kids will come up hit it knock it and it can cause a lot of things especially since most of the grills are hot to the touch so just create a little safety area around yourself.”

Jarvis adds that it’s important to check your hose for your propane tank each time you use it. When it comes to replacing it, she says that should be done every year.
