Salisbury Police warning residents of recent rash of thefts from cars

The Salisbury Police Department says that they have investigated multiple reports of thefts from cars, over the past few weeks.
Investigations have shown that unidentified suspects have removed purses, cell phones, and other easily portable valuables from parked unlocked cars in several neighborhoods, and retail parking lots around Salisbury.
Police remind people that theft from an unlocked vehicle can happen anywhere, and this can help be avoided by following two simple rules; lock vehicle doors, and keep valuables, gifts, and shopping bags in the trunk, out of view, or keep them with you.
The Salisbury Police Department also reminds the public of the following safety tips as part the ongoing “Stow It, Don’t Show It” campaign; park in well lighted areas, lock car doors and close windows, and again, keep valuables, gifts, and shopping bags in the trunk or out of view, or, better yet, take them with you.
Police also ask that suspicious persons always be reported to them in the following situations:
- Call the police at the first sign of anyone casing vehicles.
- Call the police if you see anyone tampering with automobiles. Bottom line is: immediately report suspicious activity or persons to the police department.
- Obtain a description of the person to include the type of clothing they are wearing. Description of the vehicle or bicycle they are operating to include model, damage, type of rims, stickers, etc. pertaining to vehicles and bicycles. Provide direction of travel.
- Do your part to reduce crime, don’t be a victim.
The investigations are on-going and anyone with information is asked to contact the Salisbury Police Department 410-548-3165 or Crime Solvers 410-548-1776.
