Salisbury creates new position to tackle homelessness

Salisbury is tackling homelessness with the creation of new position, a homelessness manager.
The position is part of the newly consolidated housing and community development department now open at 207 West Main Street.
According to city officials the homelessness manager has already started outreach with the homeless.
The goal is to help the city’s homeless find permanent housing.
To help with that the city has allocated $75,000 to help people find housing and get back on their feet.
Officials tell 47 ABC the city has also applied for federal grant money to help with those costs.
