Riders compete in 4-H horse show at DE State Fair

Another fantastic attraction happening at the Delaware State Fair, the 51st State 4-H horse show. Riders range from ages 5 to 19 years old, but just the riders 8 and up are allowed to technically compete.

Susan Garey, animal extension agent for the University of Delaware cooperative extension says this horse show is unique to the rest because its much more relaxed.
Garey tells 47 ABC, “We have horses of pretty much every size shape and color here today. Despite the heat, the crowds been low but the number of competitors is still pretty steady.”

Garey says when the riders are judged, each class has a different description of what the judge is actually looking for. She also adds that there are 2 main disciplines, English riding and Western riding. If you’d like to see who won today’s competitions, you can check them out on the Delaware State Fair website which is, delawarestatefair.com
