Rep. Tim Dukes reflects on session, looks forward

A late night in Dover capped off the 148th General Assembly that wrapped up last week. It’s hard to believe, but in just six months, state politicians will be heading back to Legislative Hall, focusing on issues that they believe didn’t get resolved this time around.
47 ABC caught up with representative Timothy Dukes. The republican representative tells us that session was very busy as well as productive. He says he’s happy that a storm water regulation bill was passed and later signed by Governor Jack Markell. According to Dukes, Senate Bill 252 will scale back some regulations on state farmers by DNREC. As for something he’s not too happy about, healthcare spending within the state budget.
“Our state employee benefits with healthcare have gone 100-million dollars this year and then Medicaid has gone up 68-million dollars, that’s additional to the 742-million that we already put in to the Medicaid budget.” Said Dukes.
This past legislative session will be the last for two-term Governor Jack Markell.
