Police arrest man accused of selling false cure for cancer

(AP) – Authorities have arrested a Virginia man who pretended to be a doctor and sold patients a false cure for cancer.

Prince William County Police Department spokesman Jonathan Perok tells news outlets that officials have arrested 67-year-old Peter Bodunrin Adeniji on charges including obtaining money by false pretenses and operating a medical practice without a license.

Officials say Adeniji was trying to sell patients his “miracle drug” at an expensive price. Perok says the medication wasn’t what he claimed it to be, however. The drug is now being analyzed by the FBI.

Adeniji is being held without bond. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.

Police are asking patients of Adeniji to contact authorities.
