Petting zoo gets new giraffe at Delaware State Fair

Animals and petting zoos are a staple of just about any fair, and the Delaware State Fair is no exception.

One of the petting zoos managed by Coronas of Hollywood, Inc. has added another furry friend to the mix.

We’re told Melman, a two-year-old giraffe, is the little brother of Twiggs who has been a big crowd pleaser over the years.

Crystal Coronas, a manager with the company, says they have about 100 animals between the zoo, circus, and ‘racing pigs’ show.

According to Coronas, they have a full crew making sure all of the animals are as comfortable as possible.

“They have a tent, pen and everything and then we bring lots of fluffy shavings and straw in so they can be comfortable all the time,” she says. “Everyone here is just constantly trying to make them comfortable and they stay here with us on the fairgrounds.”

Entrance to the petting zoo itself is free; however, there is a cost if fair-goers want to feed the animals.
