The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office says they are investigating what started a house fire in Seaford.

According to the report, the blaze happened late Thursday night, at a house on Old Furnace Road. Officials stated that the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department, assisted by Blades, Bridgeville, Georgetown, and Laurel fire departments, put out the flames around 11:20 PM.

The four other fire departments reportedly helped shuttle water to the scene, as heavy fire was showing from the attic area of the home when firefighters arrived. Officials say that the property owner was not home at the time of the fire, and one firefighter needed to be treated for minor burns.

The total damages were estimated at around $200,000, according to officials.

This is an ongoing investigation in order to determine the origin and the cause of the fire.
