Ocean City Police sued over alleged civil rights infringement

A lawsuit has been filed against the Ocean City Police Department stemming from a 2013 arrest, in which a pregnant woman was tackled by an officer on the beach.
According to the Daily Record Dalima Palmer is alleging her civil rights were infringed upon because she was not provided adequate medical attention.
Palmer was eight months pregnant at the time of her arrest, when she was taken to the ground.
She claims that she was denied access to medical attention, specifically that it wasn’t until she lost consciousness that she was taken to a hospital where she underwent an emergency caesarean section.
Ocean City officials have acknowledged the existence of the lawsuit, but declined to comment on it because they have not been served yet.
Palmer was given a sentence of unsupervised probation before judgment.
