In light of recent events in Minneapolis, Baton Rouge and Dallas, President Obama is expected to participate in a town hall discussion Thursday.

“The President and The People: A National Conversation” will be moderated by “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir and focus on race relations, justice, policing and equality by the members of the community.

47ABC spoke to the Worcester NAACP, who says an honest conversation is needed. President Ivory Smith say the most important thing is to keep an open mind.

“Just look and see what the conversation is about. You know? We know the conversation is about police and the community but more or less, listen,” urges Smith. “Whatever happens, it affects the whole community. It affects the whole United States.”

The one-hour event is set to air commercial free at 8 p.m. Thursday on ABC. It will also be available on ESPN, Freeform, ABCNews.com, Freeform Digital, Watch ABC, Watch ESPN, Yahoo, ABC News’ Facebook page and YouTube channel as well as ABC Radio.
