Multiple people injured in Whaleyville crash

Troopers in Maryland say a Seaford woman was charged in causing a crash on Route 50 that sent five people to the hospital including two small children.
According to Maryland State Police, the crash happened on Route 50 at Route 610 in Whaleyville at about 12:30 AM on Tuesday. Investigators say, 20-year-old Esperanta Pierre appeared to be speeding when she ran off the road, hitting a stop sign and then crossing Route 50 directly in front of on- coming traffic. During that time Pierre reportedly hit 24-year-old Christopher Beauford’s car, causing the car to overturn onto its roof.
Beauford, his female passenger, and two children ages three-years -old and 9-months-old all sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to PRMC. Pierre also reportedly sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers say, Pierre was issued several citations including negligent driving, failing to stop at stop sign, speed greater than reasonable, failure to yield right of way, driving on a learners permit without supervision.
