Mixed response to FBI’s verdict on Clinton

The FBI believes they cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges against the presumptive democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.

“We are expressing to justice our view that no charges are appropriate in this case,” FBI director James Comey said during a press conference Tuesday that was aired on national television.

Although the FBI won’t recommend the Department of Justice pursue Clinton, Comey was critical of the former first lady and her staff.

“There is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive highly classified information,” Comey said.

Despite that, the Clinton camp seems to be viewing this as a win.

Clinton’s spokesperson Brian Fallon released a statement to 47 ABC saying that they were pleased with the findings and “as the secretary has long said, it was a mistake to use her personal email and she would not do it again.”

Some people 47 ABC spoke to in Salisbury said the FBI’s recommendations will push some reluctant supporters fully into the Clinton column.

“I think everybody’s going to start changing their minds cause when you have something like a black cloud over your head, everybody decides oh she’s bad, once that’s away then they may see what she can do,” said Carmen Malave.

“I mean they have the green light because if they believe in what she says and what she promises then there’s no reason for them to back down now if she got cleared,” said Ryhan Bakouche.

Others disagree, like House Speaker Paul Ryan (R) who said in part “While I respect the law enforcement professionals at the FBI , this announcement defies explanation. No one should be above the law.”

Salisbury resident Vincent Bellia sides with Ryan.

“I think she’s guilty as ever,” Bellia said. “All of sudden they said that she was too stupid, she didn’t know what she was doing. That’s ridiculous and the position that she’s in now and shes going to be our president? How many more mistakes she going to make.”

Reports say the Department of Justice is highly likely to accept the FBI’s recommendations to not charge Clinton.
