off a huge season.. won the national championship.. and normally when that happens.. the post season awards come flying in. yeah that’s right these guys have been picking up awards for pretty much the past 3 months. and hey, they deserve it. and now they get to add another one to that list. the s-u mens lacrosse team just picked up another nice honor today as the sea gulls were tabbed as the top college lacrosse team in maryland. the award is given out every year to the top performing college program in the state now s-u is set to receive the award this year prior to todays pro game between the chesapeake bayhawks and the atlanta blaze s-u of course won their 11th national title this year, taking a thriller over tuffs 14-13 that capped off a 1-loss season that saw them finish 23-1 a lot of those guys return next year too, so you can expect the sea gulls to be good again next year on to a little college soccer better late than never for the d-s-u women’s team, as the university announced that kortney rhoades has been tabbed as their new head coach that comes with just about a month to go before their first game rhoades joines the hornets after serving as an assistant coach for a couple seasons at colorado mesa…. prior to that, she was a 4x all-state and 2x state champion at padua and a pretty nice honor being handed out to one sussex tech boys lacrosse standout today after another big season, nathan quillin earned an invite to play in the warrior national prospect game, held in richmond virginia the all-star game is used as a showcase of high school prospects to the several college coaches that expect to be in attendance and the shorebirds are back to work tonight as they try and figure something out with an offense that has been struggling last night they managed just 3 hits in their series opener with the crawdads.. and that came just 3 days after getting no-hit in greensboro we’ll see if they can turn things around, with first pitch tonight set for 7 pm that’s it for sports – more news and weather straight ahead. stay with us. catch more of the action
