Healthy Food encouraged at the Delaware State Fair

For the entire duration of the 2016 Delaware State Fair, local farms, restaurants, universities and state agencies will be conducting demonstrations to help encourage healthier eating.

That’s thanks to the Delaware Department of Agriculture, who is emphasizing ‘eating local’ and supporting local farms. As DDA spokesperson, Stacey Hofman, tells 47 ABC, in addition to supporting the local economy, eating local also helps our environment.

“We have over 2,400 family farms that are growing local produce, local meats, local chickens, and so having that close and available to us reduces the amount of imprint that we’re putting on the community and the environment.” Said Hofman.

The lessons begin each day at either noon, 2 PM, or  4 PM.
